What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
You will only get out of life what you put in, always think of others and be a kind and caring person.
Favourite way to spend a day off
I love to spend a day off with my family, it doesn’t matter what we do or where we go, just being together creating new memories.
What’s in your fridge?
It depends on the day of the week, Sunday’s the fridge is full of meal prep for the week but come the following week it is pretty well empty!
Why did you choose the field you are in?
I have always had a passion for the numbers and helping people. In bookkeeping you work incredibly closely with your clients to navigate through both the financial and personal facets that life brings. There is a real sense of satisfaction and achievement for myself and my clients in what I do.
What is the most exciting part of your job?
The most exciting part of my job is to be able to contribute and assist our clients to achieve their dreams and goals. To be part of the journey with them!
Michelle De Vries
Senior Bookkeeper
Michelle joined the KHAS team after moving from The Netherlands where she had gained her accounting qualifications and wealth of knowledge working at Deloitte.
Fun fact: I am Dutch and moved to Australia in 2016 after falling in love with the nature, lifestyle and hilarious slang of this country. My favourite weekend activity is camping on the beach and the thing I miss the most about the Netherlands is our peanut butter!
What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Never give up and apply that to any dreams you have.
Favourite book
Harry Potter.
Why did you choose the field you are in?
My parents had a flower shop growing up and it was amazing to see them follow their dreams. It made me want to be the person to assist other people to realise theirs. Accounting is a fantastic way to do this as you can take the ‘boring’ responsibilities from the business owner and have them focus on what they are passionate about, while you can assist and coach them by providing the finance information they really need to make business and personal decisions.
The best item you have ticked off your Bucket-list
Moving to Australia
What is your most-used productivity hack?
Start with the item you look up to the most and get that out of the way. This way it doesn’t sit in the back of your mind and you can focus better on the following tasks.

Why did you choose the field you are in? Growing up, I spent time assisting my grandmother at her small grocery store in the Philippines after school. It was during these moments that my curiosity as a child and exposure to money handling sparked my interest in pursuing a career as an accountant. My grandmother imparted valuable lessons on saving money and the significance of setting aside small amounts for future endeavours.
